Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
Distance: 1.5 miles (round trip)
Terrain: Ascends steadily to overlook and descends rapidly after.
Vegetation: Meadows, thick forest, and the moraine left by glaciers that dredged Glen Lake.
Pets: Pets are NOT allowed between December 1 and March 31.
Comments:
The Windy Moraine trail is ideal for exercise, seclusion, and a beautiful view of Glen Lake. The trail leads through a beech & maple forest and old farm fields.
Fees: A National Park Pass is required. A variety of options are available and can be purchased online or at the Visitors Center in Empire.
