Pathways to Sleeping Bear will host several events this summer, including happy hours and open houses, to share information about the Pathway to Good Harbor – the northernmost segment of the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail. We invite community members, visitors, trail users, and anyone interested in learning more about the trail to join us at these events.
Join at the intersection of the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail and Glen Haven Road.
The Pathway to Good Harbor, or Segment 9, of the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail, will extend north from Bohemian Road (CR 669) to Good Harbor Trail (CR 651). This nearly 5-mile section will highlight the best this region offers – the natural beauty and rich culture of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The trail will span from the Lakeshore’s iconic shoreline to a popular trailhead, telling the history of the land while winding through conifer forests and wetlands, along golden meadows, alongside rolling dunes, and by the historic Bufka family farmstead. Trail design and routing is shaped through extensive public input, reflecting community values of safety, sustainability and access for all.
Project partners have worked for over a decade to create the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail, a community asset that provides residents and visitors a safe pathway to experience this extraordinary natural area.
