Traverse Area Recreation and Transportation (TART) Trails is pleased to announce the annual Recycle-A-Bicycle (R-A-B) Bike Swap is taking place this Saturday, May 18. The Bike Swap sale will be open from 9am to 1pm for the public to test ride and purchase bicycles. It is the perfect time to get a good deal on wheels for summer smart commuting. Hundreds of used commuter, mountain, road, and children’s bikes will be available to purchase.

The R-A-B Bike Swap is for anyone who wants to sell and/or purchase unused or outgrown bicycles or bike accessories. Accessories include bike trailers, hitches, bike racks, and sometimes frames and wheels. R-A-B requires that all bicycles be in rideable condition. The tires must hold air and the brakes and shifters must be in working condition. Small items like shoes, helmets, and clothing will not be accepted.

Those wishing to sell bikes in the swap can check them in at the Old Town Parking Deck on Friday, May 17 from 6pm to 8pm. Bike experts will be on hand to help set prices if needed. Items should be priced to sell. R-A-B benefits by receiving 25% of the sale price, while 75% goes to the seller. Sellers may return to the parking deck between 2pm to 4pm to pick up their check and/or unsold bikes after the event, otherwise abandoned bikes and accessories will be considered a donation to R-A-B.

Saturday, May 18 | 2pm-4pm | Pick up unsold bikes and/or checks from the Swap

Be sure to arrive early as there is usually a line of buyers waiting for the doors to open and inventory moves fast.
