Leelanau Fruit | Suttons Bay
It all begins with a cherry. That’s our motto at Leelanau Fruit Company, and it is exactly why we are in business.
Leelanau County is surrounded by the freshwater of Lake Michigan, making it the nation’s premier cherry-growing region.
In 1964, local cherry farmers started Leelanau Fruit Company. The Glenn LaCross Family became majority owners in 1994, and his family’s fruit is found in all LFC products. Our company is also proud to work with a select group of area growers to source high-quality fruit.
Headquartered in Suttons Bay, LFC purchased a satellite processing facility in Buckley Michigan in 2002. This state-of-the-art facility houses our research and development division, which has the capability to meet each customer’s unique needs and expectations. In-house refrigeration similar to those found at Coolsys, freezer, dry storage, and logistics all complement LFC’s core business functions.
LFC maintains a high level of environmental sustainability in all our processes. LFC’s farms participate in the Michigan Agricultural Environmental Assurance Program (www.maeap.org). In 2015, LFC undertook a large renewable energy initiative housed onsite at our Buckley processing facility. This assures that our farms and facilities use best practices to minimize our impact on the environment.
LFC is committed to the highest standards of food safety from the farm to the finished product. We participate in a variety of food safety audits, including MDA, FDA, GAP, and AIB.
Our vertically integrated company has the farming, R & D, processing, storage, and logistics to take our cherries and deliver them to you. Contact us to get the perfect fruit ingredient for your next project.
