Snowshoe the Vines

  • BigLittle & L. Mawby Wines 4519 Elm Valley Road Suttons Bay, MI, 49682 United States (map)

Join us for this truly unique winter wine country experience. Head out on a snowshoe adventure through the vines to three distinct wineries while taking in the views and magical scenes of a winter wonderland! Led by one of our knowledgeable local guides, on this tour, you will enjoy a casual snowshoe hike stopping at our favorite wineries along the way. The private vineyard trail connects Suttons Bay Ciders, Ciccone Vineyards, and BigLittle Wines.

Warm up with a chili or soup lunch while overlooking Grand Traverse Bay. Enjoy the breathtaking views from Suttons Bay Ciders while cozying up to the fire.

The hike is about 4.5 miles on rolling terrain with plenty of stops. Although the tour is a guided group tour, you'll have plenty of opportunities to go at your own pace.  Our wine pickup service and friendly guides ensure that you can relax while adventuring with family and friends!

The Vine to Wine Snowshoe Tours will take place every Saturday throughout winter (12-23-23, 12-30-23, 1-6-24, 1-13-24, 1-20-24, 1-27-24, 2-03-24, 2-10-24, 2-17-24, 2-24-24, 3-02-24). The tour runs from 11:30 am - 4 pm. Tickets for the day-long guided tour are $79 per person. The tour includes: a professionally guided tour on private vineyards and orchard trails between the wineries, a snowshoe and pole rental, a catered warm lunch of chili and soups, along with a wine purchase pick-up service.

Guests can choose from a full, round-trip tour (5.5 miles) or a point-to-point (3 miles). The point-to-point tour provides a shuttle service back to the start. Tours alternate meeting spots, and will either start at Big Little Wines or Ciccone Vineyard & Winery. Guests are outfitted with snowshoes and poles and head into the vineyards on foot. Expect 30-40 minutes of snowshoeing between each winery as you pass through coastal woodlands, wind-swept bluffs, and snow-covered vineyards and orchards.

Guests will stop at Ciccone Vineyards & Winery and enjoy a cozy, chateau-like experience high on a hill with an indoor fireplace and a variety of estate-grown, crisp whites, and distinct reds. The tour also visits Suttons Bay Ciders, featuring apples grown on the property and offering a palette adventure with their unique flight tasting. Their view is remarkable! Soak in a stunning panorama of Grand Traverse Bay–you might even see some eagles from the tasting room. Guests will also enjoy Big Little Wines, based in a treehouse-like setting and serving up small batch, handcrafted wines in their fun and modern tasting room. BigLittle is housed in Mawby’s original location! Their property overlooks rolling hills dotted with vines and fruit trees.
